The Northern Territory

The Northern Territory is Australia's real Outback and home to the iconic natural wonders of Kakadu National Park and Uluru/Ayers Rock. Aboriginal people hold a spiritual connection to this land; their 40,000 year old story is shared on rocks and canvas, discovered in the sand and passed down through generations.

The Territory occupies about one sixth of Australia's total land mass and is the size of several European countries combined.

It is made up of six main destinations and their immediate surrounds:Darwin, Kakadu and Katherine

  • Alice Springs, Tennant Creek and Uluru/Ayers Rock

Each destination has it's own unique appeal and offers a range of experiences, people, places and history.

The Northern Territory is blessed with diverse and contrasting environments where change is constant. Intriguing and spectacular wildlife vary greatly from the deserts of the Red Centre to the tropics of the Top End. The "NT" is renowned for it's colourful outback characters, larger than life and always willing to share a story with a unique down to earth attitude.
